Welcome to the Write Word.
By: Catherine Olaso
I’ve had a few debuts in my life. My birth, of course, kindergarten, high school, college, employment – but I will admit my debut as an author has come as something of a surprise. And yet it shouldn’t. Writing has always run deep in my blood.
So where do I start? Perhaps the inescapable truth is best. I am nervous and terrified and overwhelmed at my first cyber “hello” to the world. Fortunately, my speech and debate teacher’s intrepid axiom sticks with me. “Shoulders back, head up, show ‘em confidence.” (Thanks, Mr. D.)
In fact, this seems like a good time to thank a few others who have been monumental in getting me to this stage of launching my very own author website. First, Cory Colt of Nurv Consulting – I couldn’t have asked for a more capable site designer. Misti Millward of Love That Shot – the cover photo on my home page is awesome. Judy Richards of This Moment Photography for the author images. I was in great hands. Mike Cluff – a fastidious freelance editor, whose insight shaped much of Blue Rain. Karen Blackmer and Misty Angle – my patient sisters who always let me cry on their shoulders, and Deserét Baker – my best friend and fellow writer whose talents have taught me much.
So here it is, the humble beginning – the real, honest, authentic me as I cast my doubts aside and fearlessly knock on Publishing’s door, knowing the mountain is steep, but never unconquerable, and more often than not, it’s the climb that makes us truly appreciate the view at the top. (Yeah, I sound like Miley Cyrus, but I actually really like that song).
I hope you’ll share my journey. I’m excited to chase the Write Words with you.
